
The province situated in the Northeastern part of the Laos, Xieng Khouang is made up of 6 districts, namely Muang Phou Koud Muang Khoune, Muang Kham, Muang Phonsavanh, Muang Nong Hai, and Muang Mork.
Historical sites in Muang Phouane are the Siphom temple, Phia Vat temple, and That Chom Phet temple. Legend has it that the temples were constructed 250 years before the establishment of the Lane Xang kingdom.
You can find hundreds of large jars at Xieng Khouang carved out of chunks of rocks that came from the mountains around the valley. Scientists have dubbed the place as the "Plain of Jars". Yet another place with a significant historical background is the Hot Springs located in Muang Kham district.
