It is no surprise that more people visit Thailand than any other country in Southeast Asia. With its beautiful beaches, rich history and culture, mouth-watering cuisines and colourful nightlife, Thailand has much to offer. The hospitable Thais also make the Royal Kingdom a destination of choice.

Thailand is well connected by air, sea or rail. Most visitors enter the country via Bangkok. From there, you can do daytrips to cities such as Ayutthaya and Kanchanaburi, known for the River Kwai Bridge. Popular beach islands include Koh Samui and Phuket Island. From Bangkok, visitors can head either north or south.

In north, you can visit Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai or Mae Hong Son.
The north is also famous for outdoor trekking. Visitors can visit indigenous hill tribes or find out more about the ancient Lanna culture. In recent years, Chiang Mai has also become a centre for learning with classes in Thai massage, culinary, language, etc. available.

In the south, travellers can unwind at some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, - Koh Tao, Krabi, Koh Samui or Phuket. Although attracting large numbers of tourist, it is still not difficult to find space to be away from the crowds. Visitors can opt for beaches not too far from Bangkok, like Khao Takiab in the resort town of Hua Hin, or the nearby Cha Am.

Northeast Thailand is more popular with independent travelers. Known by Thais as Isaan, this area has some of the loveliest forested mountains and national parks in Asia. Travellers can visit the Khao Yai National Park, Nong Khai or Surin.

Short on time or budget? Head down to the East Coast for resorts like Pattaya and Jomtien. Rich in natural resources including rubber, rice, fishing, orchards and gemstones, it is also home to many scenic national parks with waterfalls, virgin forests and untouched islands. Here in the East, islands such as Koh Samui, Koh Chang and Koh Samet are all-time favourites.
