
Can Tho, originated from the word "cam thi giang" meaning the river of poems. The city, also known to be the "Western capital", is the largest city in the Mekong Delta. The location of the city is to the south of the Hau River, one of the bigger branches of Mekong River.
Can Tho City made up of eight districts, Ninh Kieu, Binh Thuy, Cai Rang, O Mon, Phong Dien, Co Do, Vinh Thanh, and Thot Not.
The Mekong Delta produces over 50% of the nation's rice, thus it is also known as the "rice basket" of Vietnam.
Can Tho is also known for its floating markets, where tourists can enjoy local fruits such as durian, mango, pomelo, jackfruit, and longan. It is at these floating markets, Cai Rang, Phung Hiep, where people are seen selling and buying things on the river.
